Frontgrid, the creators of the globally successful ParadropVR experience, has announced the launch of a world-first containerized version of its Paradrop VR Pod attraction unlocking a fully mobile, truly year-round, outdoor entertainment platform.
The new product — featuring two Paradrop VR Pods integrated within a 20-foot shipping container — opened in July in Gdańsk, Poland, alongside a prominent Ferris wheel, opening up fresh revenue opportunities from existing visitor footfall.
Matt Wells, the CEO of Frontgrid said: “Henke from Dutch Wheels introduced us to Sebastian from Amber Sky, to explore the potential of ParadropVR as a complementary revenue stream for its wheel attraction and high-footfall leisure site.
“This product is particularly exciting for us because it opens up the market for ParadropVR flying anywhere, it’s a truly mobile platform ” said Matt Wells, CEO of Frontgrid. “By containerising our attraction, we’re removing the limitations of fixed locations — now you can operate it at outdoor sites, festivals, events, and on the move. It’s also perfect for brand experiences as the hardware solution is ready to go and its quick to either customise our existing games or create new environments.”
The containerised ParadropVR solution has been purpose-built for outdoor and mobile operations. It can be mounted on a truck or lifted into place, requiring only power and internet to run. Its durable, weather-resistant design ensures the system can thrive in open-air environments with only modest additional maintenance, while maintaining the high standards of immersion and reliability Frontgrid is known for.
Containerised Pod is the result of some fine engineering, including a frontal door, which opens and closes and the two ParadropVR Pods fitting neatly in the shipping container with all fixtures and fittings required.
Each 20-foot container accommodates two units, while a 40-foot version can host up to four Paradrop VR Pod units, offering high throughput for seasonal or permanent locations. The configuration includes a kiosk for onboarding and guiding guests, and supports flexible payment options — including coins, cards, and RFID wristbands — making it ideal for theme parks, fairs, and pop-up venues.
The system can either be operated by a kiosk or work fully unattended if integrated to a payment terminal, participants can get themselves on and off the ride, ensuring ease of deployment and cost-effective staffing.
Paradrop VR Pod delivers a thrilling solo or multiplayer gamified flying experience where players control their flight, descent and ascent via finely tuned steering, competing for the highest scores as they soar through virtual worlds or explore recreations of real-world places.
The Gdańsk installation is the first of its kind globally — a significant milestone for Frontgrid and for the growing trend of mobile and outdoor VR attractions. By enabling VR to fly beyond the walls of indoor venues, Frontgrid is expanding the frontier of immersive experiences.
